Micro incision cataract surgery (also called phacoemulsification, or phaco) is the standard way to remove a cloudy lens through an opening so small it seals on its own. If reading has gone grey, headlights flare at night, or your glasses keep changing, that is usually the cataract — not a new pair of frames waiting to be found. The cloudy lens is softened with gentle ultrasound and replaced with an IOL. Most people are in the theatre 15 to 20 minutes and leave the same day. It will not treat a retina problem or glaucoma. Those are checked first. If another disease is limiting your sight, we will say so before a date is fixed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is micro incision cataract surgery painful?
No. The eye is numbed with drops. You may feel pressure and see lights. Most people are surprised how quick it feels.
How long is recovery?
Most people see better in 24 to 48 hours and return to desk work in a few days. Avoid dusty travel, swimming and heavy lifting until your surgeon says so. Final glasses, if needed, are usually after about four weeks.
How much does it cost in Delhi?
Cost depends on the IOL and whether laser assistance is added. Monofocal is usually the most affordable; trifocal and toric cost more. You get a written estimate at consultation before any date is fixed.
Is this different from laser cataract surgery?
The lens is still removed by phaco. Femto or robotic steps can add laser planning. Micro incision describes the small, stitch-free opening used in modern phaco, with or without a laser.
Will I still need glasses?
A monofocal IOL usually gives clear distance vision and you still need reading glasses. Trifocal, EDOF and toric lenses can reduce glasses for many daily tasks. We explain the trade-offs before you choose.
Can both eyes be done the same day?
Usually not. One eye is done first, then the second after a few days to a week. That is safer and lets us fine-tune the second lens.
