DSEK replaces only the inner lining of the cornea — the pump cells that keep it thin and clear — plus a thin slice of supporting tissue. Morning blur, glare, and a cornea that looks like frosted glass are typical when those cells fail (often Fuchs’ dystrophy or after previous surgery). The new layer is folded through a small opening and held with an air bubble. You lie face-up so it sticks. No large surface stitch pattern like PK. If the front cornea is densely scarred as well, DSEK alone will not clear the view. We will not offer a back-layer graft as a shortcut for a full-thickness scar.

What if the graft does not stick?

Will I still need glasses?
